Presenting another of the rarest post-war tour programs in our vast library of cricketing programs and brochures: the Official Magazine/Souvenir for the All-India v Queensland match in Brisbane from November 21, 1947. The Queensland XI included Bill Brown, Don Tallon, Aub Carrigan and Colin McCool who took eight wickets and made an unbeaten century in a narrow Queensland victory on the eve of the first Test of 1947-48.

The 24 page booklet includes, as inserts, several scoresheets which are ‘clean’. The profiles of the Indian players are very detailed (as detailed as I have ever seen in such a publication) and there are also feature stories on JS Hutcheon, a powerhouse Queensland administrator, a story on the Indian Prince KS Duleepsinhji, a team shot of the 1946 Indians to England, and detailed profiles with pictures of the Queensland XI from Billy Brown and Cyril Smith through to a young Ken ‘Slasher’ Mackay, who is described as the most ‘not out’ batsman in Shield cricket.

There is also stories about Alan Kippax the ultimate stylist, Stan McCabe and Col. CK Nayudu, the champion Indian. The annotated scores match-by-match of the 1935-36 Australian team to India is also included.

This is another wonderful post-war publication — and rare. I rate it a ‘6’ out of 10.
