Ultra rare Melbourne-produced hardback, complete but in only fair edition. Rating 5. Both the front and back cardboard suffered covers have been creased. There is age markings on both covers too and the overall binding is a little loose. But it is delightful book, A5 in size, with 40 pages covering the first 51 ‘Great Test Matches’. It was printed and published by Edgerton & Moore of 241 Flinders Lane in Melbourne.
In his introduction, the author RH Campbell says: ‘Regarded as a means of recreation, either of body or of mind, cricket is said to possess attractions that are practically inexhaustible….’
Campbell was one of the foremost statisticians of the time. The editor was ‘Old Cricketer’ of the Herald and Weekly Times.
